Workshop Summary

This workshop is designed to broaden the photography and evidence documentation skills of the scene investigator. It will provide the investigator with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply proper photographic technique in unusual situations.

This is a workshop that is best suited for the incident scene investigator who already has a sound photography background and would like to further enhance their skills.Students will work through a number of hands-on practical exercises. To allow immediate critique and instructor feedback, all student photos are processed, printed and returned to the student during the workshop.

Review of Principles of Camera Operation

Advanced Flash & Lighting Techniques

Low-Light Photography & Time Exposures

Photography of Luminol Enhanced Patterns

Close-Up and 1:1 Photos

Digital Imaging Issues

Bloodstain Pattern Documentation

Selecting & Using Specialty Filters

Photographing Fluorescence

Panoramic Documentation of Incident Scenes

Unusual & Difficult Shooting Situations

Required Equipment

Attendees will need to bring a camera (35mm or digital), tripod and off-camera flash. Notice: Classroom hours on the second day of this workshop will be adjusted to allow for nighttime photography.
